    • An artist should develop something with meaning, if the meaning is “omg dis is pretty” you’re just recreating an image and not creating an expression from your mind.

      but I do agree with the last part, meaning should be all perspective, but every art should try to invoke an emotional response and draw out subjectivity.

      It’s you whom is tying meaning to “abstract concepts”. Meaning can be just about anything, even “esthetically pleasing” though that’s not much of an expression.

    • But that’s what I mean. If you and I look at a painting, and both come to different conclusions about what it “means,” then it is by default meaningless. For example, letters are essentially images with assigned meaning. You and I can both read what I’m writing here because the letters have assigned values.

      I’m not saying an artist shouldn’t strive for emotional response, nor am I saying they shouldn’t be proud when people find meaning in their work. (cont’d)

    • What I am saying is that a red circle on a blue background has no commonly assigned value, and claiming it is “an outcry against corporate fascism” is both disingenuous and pretentious.

    • I agree with you. Before I thought you were saying that art shouldn’t have meaning because we all derive different meanings, which I couldn’t disagree with more. That’s the point of art, in my opinion. TO invoke your sense and probe your mind.

      But, I do believe artist who try to force some meaning into their art, is kind of bullshit. But, if the artist honestly thinks a red circle against a blue background represents an outcry, then it is art, even if horrendously convoluted..

    • The fact that it’s Angelina is really what makes it weird somehow? Otherwise, pretty much on par with the weirdness you’ll find in a typical contemporary art museum.

      I find Danial’s work to be mediocre. All he does is slap famous people’s name on his sculptures hoping to create buzz.

      I kinda agree, but there are very young people on youtube and so… it’s understandable that some parents don’t want their kids to stumple across it for whatever reason >>

      In practice, it’s near impossible not to “stumble onto” online nudity. And if the kids *look* for it (most do), they’ll find it.

      I notice some videos require you to say your an adult, for some non-nudity subjects. Obviously that could be applied to nudity too.

      I, personally, though, have stumbled upon nudity.. from searching something on google, but getting something completely different.. hence former comment..
