• Combat Medic vs. Military Police?

    military action figures, carved figures

    A small bit of background:
OK we graduated tall propagandize in ’08, as good as have been during the Univ. of Pitt for my first, as good as right away second year of college. At the finish of my initial year, we proposed meditative which may be college wasn’t for me, during slightest not nonetheless anyway. I’d regularly been asked what we longed for to be when i “grew up”, as good as we couldn’t utterly figure it out to collect the vital in college…. I’ve finished up switching it 4 times so distant lol. All we knew is which we longed for to be the partial of something bigger, which meant something.

So we proposed meditative about fasten the military, we talked to recruiters of all branches, as good as finished up adhering with my hometown Army recruiter. I’ve already motionless which finishing the grade as good as starting to Officer School usually isn’t starting to happen. Again, it would be reticent to send myself in to even some-more debt when we have no thought what we wish to do yet. Anyway, prolonged story short: my initial recruiter didn’t assistance me as good as she was usually perplexing to pull me by so we switched to the recruiter closest to my college instead. The usually pursuit we knew about was an MP, so when he asked what we longed for to do, we pronounced that. So as of now, we am in the at the back of entrance module as an MP withdrawal in Aug of ’10. But newly I’ve been meditative about switching to an one more MOS.
I’ve listened MPs have been hated, usually outlayed guarding things, as good as the lot of alternative neg. stuff, idk.

    31B:
Are the things we listen to about MPs true? What is it similar to to be an MP? Any womanlike opinions (as good as men) would be severely appreciated. Is it the unique life? Are your usually friends alternative MPs? What is your pursuit similar to State-side? Overseas?

    68W:
How most “action” does the Combat Medic see? If we get deployed, we get deployed. If we don’t, we don’t. I’m not failing to be deployed, though we didn’t stick upon to lay at the back of the table either. What is your pursuit similar to state-side? Overseas? Do we consider we picked the right job? Do we consider the right for someone who has no thought what they wish to do after in life?

Keep in thoughts which we am the female, got the 92 upon my ASVABs (if which matters?), I’ll be starting in as an E3, as good as we still have no thought what we wish to do after in life. we was never passed set upon being the helper or the patrolman as the civilian, though we do wish the pursuit which will keep me busy.

This as good as any one more info, especially personal experiences, would be great. Thanks so much!
The ASVAB is out of 100, not 200 or 300, particular sections have been out of the aloft number, though the altogether normal we get is out of 100.

So we consider the 92 is flattering decent.

Thank we for all answers so far.

As a former infantry guy all I can tell you is that everybody hates MPs.

    • Military police is spit and polish and very strict but some people like that kind of Chicken chit living
but I liked being a Medical Assistant and worked with nursing and got a lot of training as a nurse
and a medical assistant…but like you say~~try both but most MP and AP police are very rigid but
you may like being like a cop~one thing for sure~ you get a lot of inspections in the military police

    • 92, gosh try and take it again to become a scientist. Must get a 99, but it goes to like 200 or 300.

    • If you don’t mind seeing bloody, burned, mangled bodies, the become a Medic.

If you have a cop instinct, become a MP.

    • 92 is very good, the high school guys that my recruiter took to take the ASVAB with me got like in the 30′s or 40′s. You should be able to get just about any job in the Army with that score. The biggest thing I would say is to think long and hard before choosing one. Look through the Army website and check out the other MOS’s. There could be some jobs out there your recruiter didn’t mention and perhaps never occurred to you. As a combat medic, you could be going to some places you don’t want to go. As an MP, yes you’ll be pretty hated, but the MP’s usually stick together, so it’s not like you won’t have any friends. If you’re really wanting a career in law enforcement then go w/ the MP’s and you could even try switching to CID after a while which opens a lot of doors to law enforcement once you’re out of the Army. Plus there’s great opportunities there to become a warrant officer in CID after one year of being CID. But if you really like the medical field, there are plenty of other medical MOS’s that’ll keep you busy but keep you in a hospital setting. Perhaps consider X-ray tech or medical lab tech which all make great money on the outside. Or if you really want to have a lot of options of where you can be stationed, go with 42A, admin specialist, they can go pretty much anywhere. But it depends on if you enjoy paperwork or how you prefer to “stay busy.”
